Ensuring safe medication management every day
The course is 32 hours of class, lab, and clinical simulation. Good Nursing and Medical Training guidelines will not allow absence or missed days from class. Students will be provided on the make-up day. Students must attend that make-up day at a time provided by the school.
Educational Goals
This program prepares students to:
- Understand and perform basic competencies required to safely administer medication by oral and topical routes, by inhalation to the respiratory system, and by instillation in the eyes, ears, and nose.
- Perform additional skills needed to support medication administration.
- Define key terms.
- Discuss factors that can affect how drugs are used in the body.
- Recognize the medication aide’s role in recognizing, recording, and reporting allergic reactions to drugs.
- Administer medication to patients.
- Pass the State Certification Examination to become a Medication Aide.
